Edmonton Highland Gathering 2027

Two days. One field. All the craic your summer can handle.

Mark your calendar, because the Gathering is back for 2027 and it is shaping up to be a cracker. Two days of pipes, dance, feats of ridiculous strength, cold pints, and the kind of good company that turns strangers into friends by the end of the night. Whether you have been coming for decades or you are wondering what a caber even is, there is a spot on the field with your name on it. No Scottish roots required. Just bring the family and a bit of an appetite.

Saturday evening: dance and tunes under the sky

Ease into the weekend with a relaxed, welcoming night that is free for everyone.

Gates open at 5:30 PM. First up is the choreographed Highland Dance Competition, where dancers of every age take the stage with flying kicks, quick feet, and serious heart. It is a joy to watch, even if you have never seen a Highland fling in your life.

Then at 7:30 PM, the beer gardens come alive with live music. Grab a drink, find a seat, and settle in for a proper Scottish knees-up. Bring the kids, bring your neighbors, bring the friend who claims they cannot dance. We will see about that.

Admission is free both for the dance competition and the music.

Sunday: the
Highland Games take over

This is the big one. Gates open at 8:00 AM and the field fills with the full spectacle of a proper Highland Games.

Expect massed pipes and drums, dancers competing across the day, and the heavy events where remarkably strong people toss cabers, hammers, and stones impressive distances. Add in vendors, food, a beer garden, and plenty for the wee ones to do, and you have a full day worth showing up early for.

Sunday admission is $15 for ages 13 to 64. Kids 12 and under and folks 65 and over get in free, so bring the whole crew.
