The groups that keep our traditions dancing and drumming

Some of the best parts of Scottish culture come alive through the people who practice it week after week. Our associations are the heartbeat of that tradition, keeping the steps sharp and the pipes singing. Here you will find two groups connected to the Edmonton Scottish Society. Whether you want to learn a reel, hear a proper pipe band, or simply cheer them on, there is a warm welcome waiting. Have a scroll and see where you fit in.

Country Dancing

There is a special kind of joy in a room full of people learning the same dance and laughing through every wrong turn. Scottish country dancing has been getting folks on their feet for generations, and it is every bit as fun today.

You do not need experience or a partner to join in. Just bring comfortable shoes and a bit of good humor. From lively reels to graceful figures, country dancing is a brilliant way to meet new friends, stay active, and feel the culture rather than just watch it. All ages are welcome, so bring the family and give it a whirl.

Clan MacNaughton Pipe Band

There is nothing quite like the sound of a pipe band in full swing. The Clan MacNaughton Pipe Band carries that unmistakable Highland roar into our events and out across the community, and hearing them play is a treat every time.

Made up of dedicated pipers and drummers, the band keeps a proud tradition alive with skill and heart. You will catch them at the Highland Gathering and other gatherings throughout the year, filling the air with tunes that stir something in you. Curious about learning the pipes or drums yourself? The band loves welcoming new members who want to give it a go.
